How To Wash A Curly Human Hair Wig?

No matter what kind of hair you wear every day, regular clean-up is recommended. Especially to the human hair wigs and human hair weave. If you don't do regular washing, clean, and maintain your hair, it will get more and more frizzy and dry, and then you may lose the best time to fix the hair. So today we are going to share some tips on washing and maintaining curly human hair wigs.

Here is a step-by-step guide on how to wash a curly human hair wig at home. Hope it can help you.

Step 1: Removing the hair glue

Gently remove the hair glue starting from the edges of the lace base. Spray some adhesive remover first will make it easier for peeling off. Then, use your fingernail to scrape up the edge of the glue to start the peeling.

Step 2:Detangle Your Wig

Start by gently detangling your wig while it's dry, using your fingers. Begin at the ends and work your way up to the roots. This prevents strain on the hair strands and preserves the curly texture.

Step 3: Washing Your Curly Human Hair Wig

Fill Your Basin: Fill a basin or bathtub with lukewarm water, ensuring there's enough to fully submerge your wig. Avoid using hot water, as it can potentially damage the wig fibers.

Shampoo Your Wig: Apply a wig-specific shampoo evenly over the hair. Gently work the shampoo through the strands without scrunching or rubbing, which can disrupt the curls. For dyed wigs, choose a shampoo that preserves the color.

Rinse Off Shampoo: Thoroughly rinse the shampoo from root to tip, allowing the water to flow in the same direction as the hair. This reduces tangling and ensures all traces of shampoo are removed.

Step 4: Conditioning Your Wig

Apply Conditioner: Use a conditioner designed for wigs to nourish the hair. Avoid applying it directly to the wig cap, especially for lace front wigs. Because if you use the conditioner on the lace, it will make the knots on the lace loose. Let it sit for a few minutes, then rinse thoroughly with cool water.

* Gently squeeze excess water out of wig( Do not rub or twist your wig.). you need to do this for at least twice to make sure the hair is cleaned well.

Step 5: Drying and Restoring

Spread the wig out on a thirsty towel and leave it in a ventilated area to dry overnight. You should spray on a little leave-on wig conditioner when you start the drying process.
When the wig is entirely dry(not before), re-style the wig gently. I recommend using hair curling rods or just fingers to restore the curl pattern. Shaking and fluffing by hand is your best starting point for wig styling.

Now you have done all cleanings, and you are ready to wear your curly wig again.

Curly Wig Maintenance tips:

*It is very important to use cool/warm water on curly wigs, as hot water will over-relax the curls of wigs.

*Do not use regular shampoo and conditioner. It may impact the lifespan of your human hair wigs.

*Gently grasp all the hair, starting from the top near the wig cap, and gently squeeze as you work your way down to the ends when rinsing your hair.
